Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The incumbent is responsible for performing a wide range of duties related to the processing and underwriting of residential and consumer mortgage related loans. This individual will be required to manage a loan from application to funding while adhering to all regulatory and internal guidelines. They are expected to be proactive in communicating the status on a loan to both the borrower and originators while managing the processing milestones and expectations with the retail banking staff through the closing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Efficiently manage the mortgage loan pipeline and provide timely status reports.
o Maintain contact with external and internal customers to ensure workflow deadlines and regulatory requirements are met.
o Underwrite each loan application submitted in accordance with the bank's lending and product guidelines.
o Assume primary responsibility for each loan application file upon receipt.
o Obtain all credit reports, appraisals, title policies and verifications required for the loan's approval and closing.
o Ensure accurate, complete and timely loan data is entered on the loan processing system.
o Identify transaction components that indicate a potential for fraud and perform required investigative work to resolve issues that are identified.
o Accurate tracking of HMDA related information and quarterly submission to servicing.
o Preparation of Loan Documentation in the banks's Loan Document software from initial disclosures through to closing.
o Review all documentation to insure conformity with loan approval and that all closing conditions have been satisfied.
o Submission of loan summation for approval or secondary review based on approved authority levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:

o Strong knowledge of loan origination, processing, underwriting, and closing with a minimum of 3 years Residential Mortgage experience.
o Excellent working knowledge of RESPA, TRID, and Fair Lending regulations.
o Strong familiarity with secondary mortgage industry practices especially companies like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and associated underwriting standards.
o Working knowledge of Harland Laser Pro software a definite plus.
o Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
